Biting the bullet

I feel that the pandemic changed the brain chemistry of everyone. We forgot how to interact face-to-face with people, we have a new respect for cases of flu and we’ve also acquired all kinds of body dysmorphia and new insecurities.

After spending 2+ years watching myself on my webcam (why didn’t Microsoft Teams have an option to hide your own camera from the start?!), I got really bothered with how uneven my bottom teeth were. I wore braces for my upper teeth as a child, but when I pointed out that my bottom ones were uneven, they told me I needed to restart with braces in both jaws to fix it, so I chose not to.

Now, I’m an adult who has my own money and there are other options than the metal braces that look like a contraption from the Saw movies. Clear aligners are now a thing that you can choose and not look like you’re going to set off the metal detector at the airport.

So in September I bit the bullet and started with clear aligners at night. I am straightening the bottom teeth and while I’m at it I wanted to get rid of the little gap in my front teeth. This led to them also eliminating some of my overbite. I ended up receiving 9 aligners for my bottom teeth and 12 for my upper teeth. I guess I’ll report back with the results.
