There’s something special about Dr. Martens. I love their look and now when they’ve added styles with heels I’m so in love. But, the reputation of being broken in and bleeding feet from the process has scared me a bit. My feet are fragile! I’ve gotten blisters from my Birkenstock, multiple times!
So as I’m gathering the courage to purchase a pair of Docs, I still want a piece of the aesthetic. That means a handbag! So I purchased this beauty!
It’s very sturdy in its construction and it’s the perfect size. I have yet had a chance to use it and really test it out in real life (I use a backpack with my laptop every day I’m going to work), but I have two concerns.
1. I didn’t more than take it out of the plastic bag it came in before there were finger and palm prints all over the leather. I think it will be fine as soon as it’s not brand spanking new, but now in the beginning it doesn’t look too great.
2. The buckles are real buckles and not magnetic ones. That means that you need to properly unbuckle both of them to be able to open the lid. This could get on my nerves, but I’m hoping that once I’ve started using it, the straps will be less stiff and the holes for the buckle pins will be a bit more used, it will be less annoying to unbuckle.
I do love the look of it and I did check with the salespeople at the Dr Marten store about the two models of shoes I was looking for. The problem was that the models I wanted where spring collection and we’re in fall right now so they were not available. Maybe in spring, I can fulfil my dream of a real pair of Docs.
