A journey of a thousand miles

…begins with a single step. Or a credit card with a high enough credit limit.

The other day I bought the flights for this years anit-depression trip (I should call it my ADT or AnDe trip) and when you buy flight to a different continent, the prices are high. Add to the cost of fuel and the effects on the airlines of the pandemic, the prices are even higher. Even flying coach hurts the wallet. So it’s not as much fun to buy trips anymore.

For me, these trips are a necessity. Okay, it sounds pretentious, “I have to have a vacation in a tropics area during the greyest part of the year”, but it is to deal with my seasonal depression. It’s one of the actions (but perhaps the most expensive one) that helps me survive the depression that will take over and I just have to manage.

I have thought on airlines I don’t wanna use. I refuse RyanAir. I will never fly with them if I have a choice. But I’m also not super excited about flying Qatar again, because the Doha airport is not very fun. I felt that Emirates might be the same, with Dubai airport not being too fun, but I’ve never flown with them before. But for this trip, Emirates was the best option. So Emirates it is, for the first time.
